The science of flight - wind tunnels and military aircraft

Have you ever wondered how aircraft are designed? Aerodynamics, and its use in the development and optimisation of military aircraft, is vital to the success of NATO air missions. Here to explain more is Kerstin Huber, Project Aerodynamicist at German-Dutch Wind Tunnels (DNW). DNW is one of the most advanced wind tunnel testing organisations in Europe. It provides critical infrastructure to NATO nations, accelerating their developments of capabilities in the field of military aircraft. Scientists from DNW take part in international research groups of NATO’s Science and Technology Organization (STO), providing valuable scientific expertise and experimental data that help the Alliance adapt and prepare for future security challenges. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ SUBSCRIBE to this channel http://bit.ly/NATOsubscribe SUBSCRIBE to NATO News http://bit.ly/NATONewsSubscribe SUBSCRIBE to NATO History http://bit.ly/NATOHistorySubscribe Connect with NATO online: Visit the Official NATO Homepage: http://bit.ly/NATOhomepage Receive NATO updates via email: http://bit.ly/NATOemails Find NATO on FACEBOOK: http://bit.ly/NATOfacebook Follow @NATO on TWITTER: http://bit.ly/NATOtwitter Follow NATO on Instagram: http://bit.ly/NATOinstagram Find NATO on LinkedIn: http://bit.ly/NATOlinkedin Find NATO on Flickr: http://bit.ly/NATOflickr #NATO #OTAN #WeAreNATO

How to change the world in just 3 steps | Ways To Change The World

According to Melati Wijsen, Founder of Bye Bye Plastic Bags & YOUTHTOPIA, it takes passion, planning and teamwork to change the world. Aged 12 and 10, Melati and her sister Isabel started Bye Bye Plastic Bags. A campaign to end plastic pollution on their home island of Bali 95% of plastic bags were being thrown away after use and Bali produces enough plastic waste every day to fill a 11-storey building. The sisters hated seeing their island drowning in waste and knew they wanted to change it for the better. They spoke at schools, festivals and markets and organised beach clean-ups. To convince the governor of Bali to meet with them, they even went on hunger strike in 2014. After 6 years of campaigning, Bali banned single-use bags, straws and Styrofoam in 2019. About the series: Every week we’ll bring you a new video story on the entrepreneurs, companies and countries changing our planet for the better. This cat is walking again thanks to 3D-printed paws

Rescuers found Ryzhik on the icy streets of a Siberian city, with his paws completely frozen. They took him to a groundbreaking vet, who 3D printed four titanium paws and attached them using a technique similar to teeth implants on humans. The vet designed and 3D printed the paws in just 24 hours and has used the technique on small dogs, too. 3D printing is transforming lives across the world, producing buildings in days. Scientists are even learning how to print human tissue such as cartilage, to help the 1 in 2 over-65s who suffer from arthritis.
